NVIDIA and Google Launch AI Energy Management Alliance
Emerald AI, Google and NVIDIA announced the launch of the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA) on September 16, 2026, in a post on NVIDIA's blog by Josh Parker. NVIDIA describes it as a first of its kind coalition advancing data centers that can dynamically manage their electricity use in response to grid conditions.

NVIDIA says power is now the main limit on American AI buildout. Here is the proposed trade.
NVIDIA and Google launched the AI Energy Management Alliance with a company called Emerald AI.
NVIDIA says grid connection rules assume a data center draws flat power forever.
The alliance wants centers that cut their grid draw when the power system is strained.
In exchange, the three companies say utilities could connect those centers faster and defer costly upgrades.
The post names only these three founding companies and no others. It announces no binding commitments and sets no date. These are proposed principles, not a rule in force.

- The post names only three companies, "Today, Emerald AI, Google and NVIDIA announced the launch of the AI Energy Management Alliance (AEMA)", and no other members, only a future intention: "The founding members will be joined by launch partners from across the ecosystem." It states no binding obligations and no effective date, describing instead advocacy work: "Together, AEMA will develop technical and operational approaches, collaborate with utilities on interconnection solutions and advocate for policies that recognize grid-responsive demand." The requirements are stated as principles the alliance calls for rather than rules in force: "The alliance's principles call for: Defining ride-through, curtailment and contingency-response obligations before a facility connects."
