Azure Multicloud Interconnect: Microsoft Links AWS
Microsoft published a post on its own Azure blog titled "Introducing Azure Multicloud Interconnect for AWS", written by Narayan Annamalai, VP and Head of Products, Azure Networking Services, dated August 31, 2026. Everything below comes from it.
Transcript
Microsoft and AWS are connecting their clouds directly. Microsoft announced Azure Multicloud Interconnect on August thirty first.
Microsoft and AWS say customers can establish private connectivity between the two clouds using Azure Multicloud Interconnect and AWS Interconnect multicloud.
Microsoft says connecting the clouds privately once required manual coordination across providers, and could take weeks or months.
Microsoft says speeds reach up to one hundred gigabits per second at general availability, and capacity can expand as demand increases.
Microsoft says AI training and inference need data across environments, and connectivity extends to Azure Private Link for a private path between clouds.
