Gemini 4 Argon Is Google's New Frontier Model
Google announced Gemini 4 Argon, a new frontier model it says was built to sustain deep reasoning across complex, long horizon workflows. It is rolling out first to a set of trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program. Google states frontier performance in real world software engineering, in enterprise knowledge work like legal and finance, and in cybersecurity defense.
Transcript
Google announced Gemini four Argon, a new frontier model. Cyber defenders get it first.
Argon is built for deep reasoning across long complex workflows. It goes first to trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program.
Argon can now output one million tokens in a single run. The previous limit was sixty four thousand.
Argon can find and patch software vulnerabilities on its own. Wiz used it to uncover a critical vulnerability in healthcare software that earlier frontier models missed.
Argon is not publicly available, and Google says it is still strengthening safeguards. Every result cited comes from Google testing its own model.

- "we are significantly expanding the model's output token limit to an industry-leading 1M tokens" and "When the model has the headroom to think deeply and generate hundreds of thousands of tokens in a single trajectory, it adds a new level of depth in reasoning to solve tough problems in one go." This is the OUTPUT token limit, not a context window, and the narration says output. - "Safely releasing frontier capabilities at this level requires a phased approach." "We'll continue to gather feedback from early testers as we iterate on guardrails before making Argon available to developers, enterprises, and consumers as soon as possible." "Before rolling out Gemini 4 Argon broadly, we're continuing to strengthen critical frontier safeguards across four main areas". - Every benchmark and internal figure in the piece is Google reporting on its own model, with no independent audit cited: "It sets a new state of the art on DeepSWE v1.1 (77.9%)", "On Google's internal comprehensive vulnerability benchmark, Argon uncovered a wide range of exposures", "A team of Argon agents analyzed fleet-wide profiling telemetry", and "In one example, it beat the published baseline by 40% in a matter of minutes." The only third party deployment named, Wiz, is described by Google. Backs scene four's second sentence "Every result cited comes from Google testing its own model".(Google (blog.google), first party announcement titled "Gemini 4 Argon: our next era of frontier intelligence" by Koray Kavukcuoglu, SVP Google DeepMind and Chief AI Architect, dated Sep 30, 2026. - Context verified but NOT narrated, recorded for the hub page and description. Pricing: "Argon will launch at an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens priced at 95% off input token price", and the footnote "After the introductory period expires, the price of $4 per 1M input tokens and $20 per 1M output tokens will apply." Other benchmarks: leading model on the Vals Index "which measures economic impact across finance, coding, legal, and tax work, with every sector weighted by its contribution to U.S. GDP", plus Vals Finance Agent v2, Harvey's Legal Agent Benchmark, "On AutomationBench, Zapier's benchmark measuring end-to-end execution across core business functions, Argon ranks #1 with a score of 51.3%", "on LVBench, which measures long video understanding, Argon is state of the art with a score of 91.7%", and "On CWE-bench v1, which evaluates the model's ability to remediate security vulnerabilities, Argon ties for first place with a top score of 68%, building on 3.8 Flash Cyber's frontier performance on CWE-bench v0." Internal Google results: quantum subroutine optimization beating the published baseline by 40% in minutes; Argon agents "freeing up over 300 TiB of memory once rolled out, with an estimated 500 TiB to 1 PiB in total savings"; C/C++ to Rust migrations "up to 800K+ lines for the Fuchsia OS Zircon kernel"; and for libgav1, agents "replaced 32K lines of SIMD code" yielding "a memory-safe video decoder that runs 2.7x faster than the Rust port". Safety measures: refusal of cyber and CBRN misuse under the Frontier Safety Framework, internal activation monitoring, internal and external red teams, "our most resilient model yet against indirect prompt injections" and leading on "the Gray Swan's Indirect Prompt Injection (IPI) benchmark", chain-of-thought misalignment monitoring that stops execution when necessary, hardened sandboxed environments, and "We are actively engaged in the U.S. government's voluntary process for pre-release model access". Corroboration status: the YouTube transcript pull returned zero of five (the installed yt-dlp is too old), so there is no video corroboration and article.txt is the sole fact source. The timeline-probes.json entries are third party pre-release speculation from Sep 17 to Sep 26, 2026 whose claimed specs contradict the article, so nothing from them was used.(Google (blog.google), first party announcement titled "Gemini 4 Argon: our next era of frontier intelligence" by Koray Kavukcuoglu, SVP Google DeepMind and Chief AI Architect, dated Sep 30, 2026.
