OpenAI released a report today on how students and teachers already use ChatGPT.

As students return to school, OpenAI says students and educators already use ChatGPT to extend learning beyond the classroom.

OpenAI's own analysis counts up to 70 million weekly conversations testing what people know. It says United States homework prompts peak above 460 million messages per week.

OpenAI says students get algebra help outside class, teachers adapt assignments before the school day starts, and families receive school messages in their language.

These are OpenAI's own numbers about its own product. OpenAI says AI cannot replace a teacher's judgment or the work students must do to learn.
